Mama's Creole Gumbo Mix
If you love Southern cooking as much as we do, you’ll love this Creole-inspired stew. Authentic creole spice gives this thick dish a kick—and it masks the taste of nutritious greens (for the pickier eaters in your family—not limited to kids!). Load it up with chicken, sausage or seafood (or all three!)

1) In large pot, brown 1 lb of ONE of the following meats: chicken, sausage or bacon with one chopped onion.
2) Add 7-8 C water and package contents; boil for 15 min, then simmer covered for approx 70 min (add extra water if needed).
3) Add 2-3 C shrimp or prawns, 796 ml can diced tomatoes, 3 tbsp butter, 2 diced peppers, 1 C diced greens (option: add okra, Swiss chard, or spinach). Cook until veggies are soft and shrimp is cooked (gumbo should be very thick). Season with salt and pepper.
Note: for softer beans and faster cook time soak top portion of beans 4-6 hr.
INGREDIENTS FIELD HARVESTED. INSPECT FOR ELEMENTS OF NATURE.
Add 1 C diced onion and either one or more from this list: diced raw chicken, chopped raw sausage, chopped cooked bacon.
Sauté your meat choice along with your onion until meat is browned and onion is translucent.
Add 6.5 C water and package contents. Secure lid and close vent then set to SOUP for 40 minutes.
Add 1-2 C shrimp or prawns, a 796 mL can of diced tomatoes, 3 TBSP butter, 1-2 C diced peppers, and 1 C chopped fine green onions.
(Other options: okra, spinach or Swiss chard) Stir well. Put lid back on and set to SOUP for 4 minutes more.
Quick Release and enjoy!
